What is phishing?
Phishing uses a deceptive message or website to persuade someone to share information, transfer money or open something unsafe. The message may appear to come from a colleague, supplier or familiar service.
Inspect the destination and the request, verify unusual instructions independently, and report suspicious messages through your organisation’s reporting process.
Warning signs to recognise
- A request to sign in, approve access or pay unexpectedly.
- A sender or destination that does not match the organisation it claims to represent.
- Pressure to act before checking through a separate, trusted channel.
