Questions about CyberPlay training
Why check a Wi-Fi network before connecting?
A wireless network name can imitate a familiar venue or service. The name alone does not establish who operates it, and a sign-in portal can ask for information it does not need.
Confirm the intended network with a trusted source and follow your organisation’s connection policy. Do not bypass certificate warnings or provide work credentials to an unfamiliar portal.
Warning signs to recognise
- Several similarly named networks claim to belong to the same venue.
- A portal asks for an unrelated work password.
- The browser displays a certificate warning.
