Ransomware Awareness & Response Games

Explore ransomware decisions through interactive games covering suspicious attachments, containment, reporting and recovery planning.

Questions about CyberPlay training

What is ransomware?

Ransomware is malware that blocks access to systems or data, often by encryption, and is used to demand payment. An incident may also involve stolen information.

Know your organisation’s incident reporting process before an incident. Practise escalation and containment decisions in a game, and leave real response actions to the authorised incident team.

Warning signs to recognise

  • Files suddenly become inaccessible or display unexpected extensions.
  • A ransom message appears or an endpoint raises a security alert.
  • Unexpected activity affects several systems or shared files.

  • Ghost Protocol

A tactical cyber conspiracy. Deploy operation chips, investigate threats, and learn who deserves your trust.

  • Ransomware Reaction

A corporate awareness game about the first minutes of a suspected ransomware incident. You are at work, something starts going wrong, and how fast you disconnect and how clearly you report matter far more than trying to fix it yourself.

  • Ransomware Survival

You are acting COO of AcmeWorks, a 75-person European firm, for thirty business days. Cash, a security budget that does not refill on its own, the day’s IT hours, morale and three client deadlines all compete with the boring work that actually stops ransomware — and the campaign that arrives in the last third of the month is assembled from every deferral you made.

  • Security Tower Defense

Attacks walk across your office floor toward the CORE DATA VAULT. Put the right protection in their way — no single one stops everything. Fifteen security controls, twelve attack types and eighteen build slots on one floor, fifteen authored rounds, then procedurally generated ones forever.
